Finding An Affiliate Partner To Help You Generate An Income

Finding An Affiliate Partner To Help You Generate An Income
By Rachel E Spencer

So you have set up your website and/or your blog, and you have been working on driving traffic to your site. You can see visitors are coming to your site and they love it; however, the site isn't making you any money. If you do not have your own product to sell, you always have the option of selling other people's products on your site and making a commission on each of those sales. The only problem is, how do your find a suitable product to promote?

Affiliate marketing can take on two forms. You can have a website devoted to promoting affiliate products and earning a commission for the products. Also, you can have a site or blog to inform people of a particular subject. On these sites, you may just be looking to bring in some extra money by making an occasional sale or you might be looking to earn a full-time income. Either way, you need to find a suitable affiliate partner.

The first thing you will want to find is a vendor that matches your niche and the information on your website. Being congruent is key when it comes to affiliate marketing. If you have a blog about kayaking and kayak accessories, it will get you nowhere to add affiliate links and promote lawn care products. Decide what your niche will be and then do a search, on your favourite search engines, to find vendors that sell products or services related to it.

You will definitely need to know what your site visitors are looking to purchase. Are they looking for physical products, or do they just want some information, or are they looking to take an online course? You can find vendors selling just about everything and anything, it doesn't matter if its physical, informational or for learning.

There are plenty of affiliate networks where you can find hundreds of vendors offering affiliate programs. These networks make it very easy to track the number of people clicking on your affiliate links and, more importantly, they are able to also track your affiliate earnings.

Affiliate networks also make it quite simple to find links and add them to your website. Some of the more popular networks are Commission Junction, Shareasale and ClickBank. ClickBank is an affiliate network where vendors solely offer information products like e-books and software.

When you add the vendor's links to your website, make sure you place them in a noticeable location where visitors will be sure to see them when they go to your site. A well-placed, enticing link will generate more income for your website than a link that is difficult for people to find. In some cases, a text ad within the text of an article on your site will create good results. In other cases, a colourful banner ad on the side of the website or on top will generate a good click through rate.

Discovering a vendor to promote on your website is not all that hard to do. Just make sure that the vendor is selling what the visitors, coming to your website, are looking to purchase. Make sure that the products or services match your niche and be sure to experiment with the links. You will want to see which ones are generating the highest click through rate and make you the most income.
