But before we start.......a CONFESSION:
As of this morning, I've written over 5012 articles that have generated millions of readers, tens of thousands of subscribers in a wide variety of different niches and too many profitable affiliate marketing campaigns to count.
And yet.....contrary to MOST article marketing "GURUS", I still feel I have far more to LEARN.......than to teach.
Why?
Because the KEY to writing articles that convert like crazy can't be codified in one simple sweeping statement.
The CHALLENGE, in becoming an UBER successful article marketer lies in your ability to be flexible, to study EACH market individually, and to be diligent in testing and trying new strategies until you find something that works.
If you are an affiliate marketer, for example.....you are going to find that EVERY market responds differently. One resource box may convert at 30% or above in one niche, and than get a click through rate of 3% in the next. You have to be willing to test, try, stumble, fumble and FIND your way to success in every new market you enter, if you truly want to have transcendent success.
But with that said, there ARE in fact some simple rules that have worked wonderfully well for me in MY business, and I believe will work equally as well for you if you emulate them in yours.
Titillate with Your Titles: I've learned that long, verbose and titillating titles will almost ALWAYS outperform short, concise ones...both on the article directories themselves (For directory driven traffic) as well as the search engine results, where people searching tend to gravitate to content that has an "eye candy" quality. (the longer the better)
Keep is SIMPLE. (stupid..:-) And short! The truth is, I can always tell someone is a newbie when they write articles that are 800 or 1000 words or more. People have short attention spans, and keeping your articles short (400 words) and keeping your paragraphs and formatting concise is an EASY way to get far higher conversion percentages.....simply because more eyeballs will make it down to your offer. Remember, while you may THINK a 2000 word treatise sells you as an expert, you are FAR better keeping that sort of content on your blog or website....or better yet, in a short report or bribe, rather than using that as the content you submit to the article directory itself.
SPECIFICITY is the real SECRET to writing articles that convert like crazy.
People want specific results. They want to make $100 a day......and NOT money from home. They want to lose 10 pounds by Christmas....and NOT weight for the holidays. They want a 720 credit score...and NOT better credit. Even if people search for generic results in finding your article....the more your content MEETS their underlying goal, or objective or idea the more likely you will be to get the click, AND most importantly.....to convert that reader to a subscriber or a sale shortly thereafter.
